The Camino - A Journey of the Spirit by Shirley MacLaine - Book Review

Every year thousands of people walk the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. The area is said to have many spiritual powers.

As there are many routes to Rome, Santiago de Compostela is also reached through multiple routes. Along the route one can sleep in little dormitories. The approximately 450-mile trek is done with the intent of finding one's own spiritual meaning

About the book

The book describes Shirley MacLaine's own pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. She tells open and honest about her liberating visions and revelations that were revealed to her as she walked the path.

Sometimes it feels more like rambling and the story about Atlantis might go too far for some.

What stroke me most was the eventual insight that everybody has his own deep knowledge and has all the answers inside. You just need to bee in touch with your inner self and your feelings.

Your camino

If you want to walk the Camino yourself the book is a nice read for inspiration and motivation. But also if your not planning to endeavor this journey it is a nice read.

You can just read it as entertaining but it can also help you on your own spiritual journey.
